How LawLink.ai Handles Your Data With Claude

LawLink.ai integrates with Anthropic's Claude assistant so that you can interact with your practice management data — matters, contacts, calendars, deadlines, documents, tasks, and related workflows — through a single AI interface. This section explains what information is exchanged with Claude, how Anthropic treats that information, what LawLink.ai does as the custodian of that information, and the controls available to you. It supplements, and does not replace, the other sections of this Privacy Policy.

1. What data is exchanged with Claude

When you use LawLink.ai through Claude, our connector exposes information from the systems you have authorized us to access — for example, your case management, document management, calendar, billing, and email systems — so that Claude can respond to your prompts. The information returned to Claude generally includes:

  • Matter records, parties, and case notes

  • Contact records and communication history

  • Calendar events, deadlines, and tickler dates

  • Documents, files, and document metadata that you have authorized LawLink.ai to retrieve

  • Tasks, workflows, and related practice activity

LawLink.ai retrieves and shares only the data necessary to respond to a specific request from you, and only from systems you have explicitly authorized.

2. How Anthropic (Claude) handles your data

Anthropic, the provider of Claude, publishes its data handling practices at privacy.claude.com. The summary below describes how Anthropic currently treats data accessed through connectors and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers — the integration pattern LawLink.ai uses. The authoritative description of Anthropic's practices is on Anthropic's site; this summary may lag changes Anthropic makes to its policies, and you should review Anthropic's policies directly.

Connector data is excluded from model training by default. Anthropic's published policy states that content delivered to Claude through connectors and MCP servers — which is how LawLink.ai delivers your data — is not used to train Anthropic's models.

You should understand the following caveats to that default:

  • Copied content. If you (or another user of your account) copies text out of a Claude response, or pastes content from another source, directly into the chat window, that pasted content is treated as part of your conversation and may be subject to your plan's training settings rather than the connector exclusion.

  • Safety review. Anthropic may review conversations that are flagged for safety or policy violations, regardless of plan or settings.

  • Plan-level differences. The protections that apply to your Claude conversations depend on which Anthropic product you use to access Claude. Anthropic's consumer plans (Free, Pro, Max) have different defaults than its commercial offerings (Claude for Work, Claude API). Commercial plans generally provide stronger, contractually binding no-training defaults. LawLink.ai recommends that firms with heightened confidentiality obligations access Claude through a commercial plan.

  • User settings. On consumer plans, your individual Model Improvement setting may affect how non-connector portions of your conversations are treated. You can review and change this setting in Anthropic's privacy controls at claude.ai/settings/data-privacy-controls.

3. How LawLink.ai handles your data

Security is foundational to LawLink.ai. The platform uses secure authentication, encrypted data transfer, and controlled access to ensure sensitive legal data is protected across all integrations. LawLink.ai maintains SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 security levels.

LawLink.ai operates as a pass-through system. Client matter data, documents, and case content retrieved from your connected systems are not stored in the LawLink.ai environment. Information is retrieved from the systems you have authorized, delivered through LawLink.ai to Claude in response to your request, and is not retained by LawLink.ai after the request completes.

In addition to that architectural protection, LawLink.ai commits to the following:

  • No sale of your data. We do not sell, rent, or share your matter, client, or document data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

  • No use for AI model training. LawLink.ai does not use your firm's data to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models, whether our own or any third party's.

  • Secure authentication and controlled access. Access to your connected systems is controlled by the credentials you supply when authorizing each integration. Internal access to LawLink.ai systems is restricted to authorized personnel under role-based access controls and is audited consistent with our SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 programs. You can revoke LawLink.ai's access to any connected system at any time, and doing so terminates our ability to retrieve further data from that system.

  • Encrypted data transfer. Data moving between your authorized systems, LawLink.ai, and Claude is encrypted in transit using industry-standard transport security. Account credentials, configuration, and other operational data retained by LawLink.ai are encrypted at rest.

  • Operational logging. LawLink.ai maintains operational and security logs of connector activity — request metadata, timestamps, error events, and similar diagnostic information — for to support troubleshooting, abuse prevention, audit, and incident response. These logs do not include the substantive client content retrieved from your connected systems.

  • Subprocessors. A current list of subprocessors that may be involved in operating the service. We will provide reasonable advance notice of material changes to that structure.

  • Incident response. In the event of a confirmed security incident affecting your data, LawLink.ai will notify the affected firm without undue delay and consistent with applicable law.

4. Your responsibilities under the rules of professional conduct

LawLink.ai is a tool. The decision to use it with client data — and the scope of that use — remains the responsibility of the supervising attorney. Most U.S. jurisdictions impose duties of confidentiality (e.g., ABA Model Rule 1.6), competence with technology (e.g., Comment 8 to ABA Model Rule 1.1), and supervision of nonlawyer assistance (ABA Model Rules 5.1 and 5.3) that apply to the use of AI tools. A growing number of state bars have issued formal opinions specifically addressing the use of generative AI in legal practice; you should consult the opinions applicable to your jurisdiction and obtain client consent where required by the rules of professional conduct or by the terms of your engagement.

LawLink.ai does not provide legal or ethics advice. You are responsible for evaluating whether your intended use of LawLink.ai and Claude is consistent with the rules governing your practice and with your obligations to your clients.

5. Controls available to you

You may, at any time:

  • Revoke LawLink.ai's authorization to access any connected system, either through that system's own access controls or through LawLink.ai settings.

  • Request deletion of your LawLink.ai account and associated data by contacting connections (at) lawlink.ai, subject to any retention obligations imposed by law.

  • Configure your Anthropic privacy settings, including model improvement settings and incognito chat, through Anthropic's privacy controls at claude.ai/settings/data-privacy-controls.

  • Choose a commercial Anthropic plan (Claude for Work or Claude API) to obtain stronger contractual no-training commitments before using LawLink.ai for confidentiality-sensitive work.

6. Changes to this section

We may update this section to reflect changes to LawLink.ai's practices, our subprocessors, or Anthropic's published policies. Material changes will be communicated to account administrators a reasonable time in advance of taking effect, except where a shorter notice period is required by law or by an urgent security need.
